Email from Bethany Soderlund, City Planner regarding new City Planner and shoreline violations:
Good Afternoon Lake Associations,
The new City Planner, Steve Timblin, has started and you can reach him at stimblin@city of nisswa.gov and 218.961.4243. There have been several violations in shoreline activity, including the filling of wetlands and public water from a landscaper advertising “DNR approved shorelines” that resulted in a restoration order from the DNR. The property owner worked with this company because they felt they were doing the right thing. Please refer to the article below from MPR:
Unchecked development, lax regulation push Minnesota lakeshores to the edge. MPR News.
It has been such a privilege to be the City Planner for the City of Nisswa and am grateful to the people and experiences I’ve had during my time here.
Bethany Soderlund
